Welcome to the Southwest Association of Freshwater Invertebrate Taxonomists (SAFIT) web site. SAFIT members are scientists and citizen volunteers working in a collaborative way to standardize the taxonomy of inland freshwater invertebrates in the southwest United States. Our mission is to promote the standardized taxonomy of inland freshwater invertebrates in support of biotic assessments of aquatic ecosystems in the southwestern region.
Through this website we intend to provide information on standard taxonomic protocols and efforts, announce upcoming workshops and meetings, provide you with the titles of relevant taxonomic literature and other news from the world of freshwater invertebrate taxonomy.
We would like to hear from you directly. Please feel free to contact us with any ideas or requests for workshops you would like SAFIT to conduct in the future or to pass on information you would like to share with other taxonomists in our group.
SAFIT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, so your membership dues and donations are tax exempt.
